Daytrip destinations in the Mariánské Lázně region

Discover the Baroque romanticism of this castle, which was owned for centuries by the Metternich family. The castle, which is built in classical Viennese and Empire style, also features a 100-hectare English garden with an obelisk of Emperor Franz I. The castle itself is home to a prized library containing medieval manuscripts and valuable works, academic books and encyclopaedias from a range of scientific fields. The estate of the French poet Alexandre Dumas is also kept here.

Kynžvart Castle

The Premonstratensian abbey dating from the 12th century is also closely associated with the development of Mariánské Lázně as a spa town, and not just because it is close by. The extensive complex features some interesting buildings, with highlights including the well-preserved library.
