Zadar: The city of culture

Zadar region is a great destination for those interested in culture, as it offers a wealth of cultural attractions. Zadar is full of rich history revealed through many ancient monuments and buildings. For example, the historic Roman Forum, dating back to the 1st century AD. It is situated in the old city centre and contains the remains of the Roman Temple of Jupiter, an ancient baptistery, and other ruins. The Zadar Cathedral is another landmark. Built in the 13th century, the magnificent cathedral boasts a stunning Gothic design and houses many important relics. The nearby Church of St. Donat is also must-see. It was built in the 9th century and is an example of pre-Romanesque architecture. The Croatian National Theatre in Zadar is established in 1867 and the theatre is renowned for its stunning baroque architecture and spectacular performances.
