From a block of wood to a one-off piece: watch master woodturner Lukas Lettmayer at work in Aich every Tuesday and Thursday.

A piece of wood, a lathe, and a steady hand. That’s all it takes to transform a rough blank into a bowl, a pepper mill, or a stone pine heart. At the demonstrations in Drechslerei Lettmayer, you can experience this moment up close.

His passion for the craft started early. At the age of 12, Lukas Lettmayer watched a woodturner at a Christmas market for the first time, and this rare trade has never let go of him since. Today, he runs a regional master craftsman’s workshop, just a short drive from Schladming. He turns many of his pieces without a plan, guided by feel and experience. Discover how it works and what really matters right there in the workshop.

Afterwards, it’s worth browsing the shop for wooden bowls, wooden jewellery, stone pine products, and small souvenirs. A lovely way to take a piece of local craftsmanship home with you.
