Advent in Pürgg 2026
Creaking barn doors, the scent of beeswax and fir branches, warm light glowing behind old windows: On the first two weekends of Advent, the mountain village of Pürgg opens up its barns, haylofts and parlours. Where hay is usually stored, artisans now turn wood, weave and carve. Brass music drifts between the houses, children bake and make crafts, and the Grimming mountain watches over it all. Peter Rosegger once called Pürgg the “Kripperl der Steiermark”, Styria’s little nativity scene. Stroll through its lanes in Advent and you’ll soon see why.
Pürgg is around 40 minutes’ drive from the hotel.
