Around Ferragosto

Around 15 August, Katschberg becomes a very special place: home to one of the Lungau's most impressive Baroque traditions, lively music, and unforgettable moments for the whole family.

The highlight: the Samsonumzug on 15 August. Samson: the legendary giant of the Baroque era, parades through the village accompanied by the Bürgermusik St. Michael brass band and the Historic Rifle Guard of St. Michael. Standing over four metres tall, this iconic figure has been part of the Lungau's cultural life for centuries and has been recognised as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage since 2010. A spectacle that has to be seen to be believed.

Back at the hotel, the evening begins with a grand Ferragosto aperitif in the hotel lobby, followed by an Italian buffet. The perfect end to an extraordinary summer's day.
Throughout the holiday week, live music on selected evenings, an extensive children's and animation programme, and – in fine weather – cosy campfire nights round off the experience.

One weekend. One tradition. One summer to remember.
