Wösendorf in the Wachau, 2016: Veronika and Sebastian Braun founded their winery – young, with clear ideas and a deep awareness of centuries-old soils. Both come from winemaking families with long traditions, both bring those roots with them – and both have consciously opened a new chapter. Weingut Braun stands for organic and sustainable viticulture, for hand-harvesting in renowned Wachau vineyard sites such as Achleiten, Steinriegl and Simbach – and for wines that don't simply repeat the expected.

Grüner Veltliner and Riesling form the core, complemented by Chardonnay, Gelber Muskateller and Pinot Noir – varieties that show the Wachau is capable of more than its classics. Widely awarded by Falstaff, Wein Guide and A la Carte, it is nonetheless the soils and the climate that have the final say.
