60 years of Lido Ehrenburgerhof

A success story

It's hard to believe, but true. The Lido is turning 60 years old and so is all of Falkensteiner Hotels & Residences. Maria and Josef Falkensteiner were the ones who started out with a small boarding house in South Tyrol, in the town of Ehrenburg near Bruneck in Pustertal Valley, laying the cornerstone for a hotel group that, with its portfolio of 30 hotels in several European countries, stands for a very special kind of hospitality today. Welcome Home has been the inspiring motto of the Falkensteiner family for 60 years and at now over 30 hotels.

“A company – basically, any type of organisation – will only be successful in the long run if it has a foundation that is based on values.” Erich Falkensteiner

1957 Maria and Josef Falkensteiner establish a modest pension in the town of Ehrenburg in South Tyrol. No less than seven beds are set up to accommodate guests, also in the erstwhile children's rooms of Erich and Andreas Falkensteiner, who, for their part, are banished to the hayloft. Hospitality has always been the cardinal virtue. Nonetheless, the idea of running more than a simple pension already existed at this early stage. Only several years later, this vision becomes a reality for the first time. The modest pension is converted and extended into a hotel with 80 beds. In the early 60s, Falkensteiner Family Hotel Lido Ehrenburgerhof was also the first hotel in South Tyrol to offer rooms with shower and WC inside. A convenience the hotel guests from around the world quickly learned to appreciate.

Today, Family Hotel Lido Ehrenburgerhof has 94 rooms and about 50 employees. Year after year, the hotel has become a favourite for many families spending their family holidays here both in the summer and winter.
