Cheese Festival Kötschach-Mauthen
At the traditional Cheese Festival in Kötschach-Mauthen, everything revolves around flavour, craftsmanship, and regional culture. The festivities kick off at 10:00 am with a festive parade to the town hall square.
From 12:00 to 3:00 pm, the famous Gailtal Alpine Cheese will be presented with the official opening and ceremonial cheese cutting in the festival hall. Another highlight follows at 5:00 pm with the traditional costume fashion show by “Kristler G’wånd”. From 8:00 pm, the lively “Cheese Hopping Kötschach-Mauthen” rounds off the day.
Throughout the day (10:00 am – 5:00 pm), regional and international exhibitors showcase cheese, culinary delights, wine, and handicrafts. Families can enjoy free children’s entertainment and face painting, while local choirs and folk groups provide the perfect musical backdrop.
