Art Talks — Luigi Ballarin & Valerio Bacciolo
Falkensteiner Hotel & Spa Jesolo opens its Art Talks season with a dialogue between painting and sculpture: two artists, two materials, one story about the balance between earth and sky.
Luigi Ballarin was born and raised in Venice, a city that has always lived in exchange with the East. His painting brings East and West together in iconic images, using an original technique of raised, material-rich surfaces that evoke mosaics, enamels and carpets, enriched with metallic effects that give the works their luminosity. He has exhibited in Italy and around the world, including at the Gazi Husrev-Begova Hanikah museum in Sarajevo, the Museo Santa Maria della Scala in Siena, Palazzo Strozzi in Florence, and in Bahrain.
He lives and works between Venice and Istanbul.
Valerio Bacciolo was born in Cavallino Treporti. In 2019, together with Luigi Ballarin, he held his first two-person exhibition, ""Bisanzio e la Dogaressa,"" at the Micromega gallery in Venice. In 2020, his large-scale sculpture ""Mater Dogale"" was installed at Punta Sabbioni, the historic gateway to Venice. His Dogaressa has inspired a book and a collection of poetry.
For Art Talks, the two artists come together for ""Equilibri Naturali,"" a dialogue between their work exploring the connection between solidity and lightness, stillness and motion: an art that crosses boundaries and opens new perspectives.
First and foremost, an event open to the public: Ballarin and Bacciolo will be there in person on Thursday 24 September, to talk about their own journey and the connection between their work, in direct conversation with guests, with questions and. Talk begins at 6pm.
Some of their works will also remain on display around the hotel until 11 October, for anyone wishing to admire them in the days following the evening itself.
Free entry, booking required.
