Schladming is internationally well known as a winter sports resort. The long history as a World Cup destination with the annual mega event „Night Race“, the FIS Alpine Ski World Championships in 2013 and the Special Olympics winter games in 2017 make the place known far beyond the Austrian borders.
Schladming is the centre of the Schladminger 4-mountain interconnected ski region. There are 124 km of ski slopes here. The modern infrastructure of the ski lifts, snow cannons, ski slopes and gastronomic services (ski huts, après-ski bars, etc.) make the ski area a top winter destination. Nearby there is also the cross-country skiing paradise in Ramsau am Dachstein. The FIS Cross-Country World Cup also takes place here every year.
