Respectful behaviour around grazing livestock

Staying safe on alpine pastures

  • Livestock can feel threatened by dogs – extra caution is essential
  • Plan your route to avoid grazing areas whenever possible
  • Always keep your dog on a short lead – never attached to your body
  • Keep a safe distance from animals; avoid barking or chasing
  • If cattle approach aggressively: let your dog off the lead immediately – this protects you
  • Never pick up or defend your dog

Bringing your dog onto alpine pastures is at your own risk.
