Winter holiday at Katschberg

On the border between Carinthia and Salzburg stretches the vacation region Katschberg Lieser-Maltatal, which combines the advantages of both provinces. Extensive nature, imposing mountains, a true potpourri of sports opportunities and active experiences as well as cultural events and regional specialties. Due to this wide range of offers and the hospitality of the locals, families with children feel just as comfortable as single travelers, couples or groups of friends. Among others, the region includes the Katschberghöhe with the valley town Rennweg am Katschberg, the nature reserve Pöllatal and the Lieser Maltatal, which is also home to the artist town Gmünd. On the Salzburg side lies the Lungau Biosphere Park.

New gondola lift at Katschberg

Opening in December 2025!

A new chapter begins at Katschberg

Since May 2025, a state-of-the-art 8-seater gondola lift has been under construction as part of the new Almbahn, which will offer guests a completely new skiing experience from the 2025/26 winter season. The new construction replaces the existing three-seater chairlift, bringing more comfort, wind stability and sustainability to the mountain.

More comfort on the Aineck - whatever the weather

For over 40 years, the Almbahn has connected the centre of Katschberg with the popular Aineck. The new gondola lift takes this tradition into a modern future: with weatherproof cabins, increased wind resistance up to 80 km/h and the latest technology, the ascent is not only more reliable, but also much more pleasant - a benefit for all winter sports enthusiasts and connoisseurs.
