Samson parade
The custom of the Samson parade dates back to the 16th century. Since then, the annual entry of Samson, accompanied by a marching band and usually also by the citizens' guard, has definitely been one of the seasonal highlights. As a landmark of the Lungau and as a symbol of power and strength, the biblical heroic figure is carried through the village with a proud weight of 80 kilos. A spectacle when the giant is lifted by the Samson carrier. The whole thing is particularly lively thanks to the blaze of colour.
