A must for any sightseeing tour
The Belgrade Fortress forms the historical core of the Serbian capital and serves as a symbol of Belgrade's origins. Its history is characterized by numerable conflicts and conquests between the great powers of the Habsburg monarchy and the Ottoman Empire in the Turkish wars. Today however, it is a huge park huge park, looking out over the confluence of the Sava and Danube Rivers for what is undoubtedly the city’s most romantic spot.
It also houses the Military Museum and a number of galleries, not to mention some of the city’s most recognisable monuments.
