Gailtal Cheese Festival
Every year on the last weekend of September, Kötschach-Mauthen becomes a stage for cheese lovers: the Gailtaler Käsefest celebrates the award-winning Gailtaler Almkäse g.U. Producers from Austria, Italy, Germany and Switzerland showcase their dairy specialities, framed by a traditional costume parade, cheese-cutting ceremony and folk fashion show. Culinary delights, folk culture and regional diversity make this one of Carinthia's biggest food festivals.
