Management Trainee Program, a dream come true

I still remember perfectly that day in late May, during my Master in Barcelona. It was already summer there, more than 30 degrees, and that afternoon I was working with some colleagues on our final project when I received the long awaited email… “Dear Mr. Gregori, we would be very happy to welcome you in our Hospitality Management Trainee Program in Jesolo”.

It was already summer there, more than 30 degrees, and that afternoon I was working with some colleagues on our final project when I received the long awaited email… “Dear Mr. Gregori, we would be very happy to welcome you in our Hospitality Management Trainee Program in Jesolo”. My scream frightened my friends, and I had to reread it at least three times to be sure it was real, before explaining them what had happened. I couldn’t be happier… In my opinion, it is the best career opportunity that you can have after a Master in Hospitality Management, and I had just been accepted!

Something about me


My name is Davide Gregori, 26 years old, from Italy. Ever since I was a child, I have a strong passion for the hospitality industry, for travelling and discovering new places and cultures.  For this reason, besides travelling as much as I could, I decided to take this path also in my studies, getting a bachelor degree in Tourism.  After that, I realized it was time to go abroad and get more practical experience in the field. In Spain and England I had the opportunity to work in different hotels and departments. 


After a couple of years, the next step was to attend a Master in Hospitality Management, so I moved to Barcelona. Last March, when the Master was coming to the end, I started to search for a job. When I saw this “tailor-made” program, it was very appealing and I applied. After a couple of telephone interviews, I was invited to the assessment centre in Zadar, the last part of the selection process. As you already know, in May I received the great news, and in the beginning of September I officially started this program, commencing in the F&B department in Falkensteiner Hotel & Spa Jesolo.

The Program


The Falkensteiner trainee program is a 24 months personalized path with the overall goal of developing young professionals for future leadership positions. During the first 18 months the trainee will go through 7 different department rotations (Restaurant & Bar, Kitchen, Housekeeping, Spa & Technical department, Front office/Reservation & Sales, Controlling, Back Office & Assistant to GM). Each rotation lasts 2-3 months including a specific learning plan for each department. Two of these rotations will be conducted in other Falkensteiner hotels, usually abroad, offering thereby an excellent opportunity to experience different hotels of the group. The rotation plan is also made individually for each trainee, depending on the experience and the necessity of the hotel.


After this first period, the trainee, together with the GM and HR responsible, decides on the department of specialization for the last 6 months, receiving at the same time also a specific project to work on. In addition to this, the program includes the trainee academy, composed by 6 modules where trainees will have the chance to develop their knowledge in fields like finance, project management, leadership, presentation skills etc. On top of that, throughout the 2 years, trainees will take part in a mentoring process, where experienced senior leaders of the company will help and coach them through advices, observations and sharing of experiences. 

In conclusion, and after the first 3 months since the beginning of the program, I can absolutely confirm the great impressions I had since the selection process, and I’m looking forward to continuing this exciting adventure!
