Culture enthusiasts have the option of visiting the city of Villach, located just 55 km away. It is the second largest city in Carinthia and an important transport junction for Austria and the Alpine-Adriatic region. Villach is especially well known for its beloved “Villach carnival” and the regional speciality “Villacher Kirchtagssuppe”, a sour soup prepared in celebration of a traditional folk festival.
The region’s close proximity to the Italian border means that fans of “la vita bella” will be right in their element here. And anyone in the mood for Italian fashion or a genuine Italian pizza can take a quick jaunt across the border.

Where better to enjoy the warmth of the winter sun on your face than the Nassfeld ski area in Carinthia: With 850 hours of sunshine in the winter season, this area gets 100 more hours of sun than the northern Alps. Among the top 10 ski areas in Austria, Nassfeld has 30 modern ski lifts and 110 kilometres of slopes – enough to set any skier’s heart racing!
