Quiet location, exciting ambience.

DISCOVER AND EXPERIENCE

With its rolling hills, dense forests and luscious meadows, the thermal spa region of Bad Waltersdorf is considered by many people to be the most beautiful part of Austria for good reason. Everything flows – but without the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

My favourite hike – Römerweinweg

This pleasant hike along a path dedicated to the Romans and leading around Bad Waltersdorf starts from the town’s information office. To “warm up”, first take a walk through the town towards the healing thermal spa, then head uphill over the fertile hills towards Wagerberg.

Amidst the vineyards, the Waldweg (or forest path) will lead you further in the direction of Wagerberg, where you can then enjoy the fantastic landscape of southeastern Styria. At Wagerbergberg, turn off to the left at the end of the town once you have passed the forest, and the path will lead you back downhill to Bad Waltersdorf.

My favourite cycling tour – the Lucullus tour

The bicycle tour starts in the centre of Bad Waltersdorf at the town’s information office. The 12-km tour starts out slightly uphill, travelling along vineyards and orchards and through shady forests, past traditional “Buschenschank” wine taverns. The wine taverns are the perfect place to stop for a bite to eat and to prepare yourself for the culinary delights that await you back at the hotel. Once you’ve reached the top, you can have a rest, take in the fantastic view of the thermal spa region from Leitersdorfberg and enjoy your surroundings.

The path towards Leiterdorf takes you downhill towards the spa, past lovely orchards and directly onto Thermenstraße. Continue towards Wagerberg on the lovely Dorfstraße until you get to Sonntagsberg, where you will then head downhill and end up back in the centre of Bad Waltersdorf.
